Sixth meeting of the Art Schools of the Mediterranean Area: Alger, 7-15 May 2005
The sixth meeting of the art schools of the Mediterranean will be held in Algeria from May 7 to May 15 with the participation of 27 schools from different countries of the Mediterranean basin. 2oo5 meeting will focus on plastic arts. The event aims at rousing the creativity of the participants through the comparison among different realities and reflecting on the teaching methodology, on art and market criticism, in order to improve the activity of the arts academy, especially in student exchange programs. The meeting is organised by ESBA (Secondary School of Fine Arts in Algiers), by the Arts and Culture Institute and by Ecume, agency for the promotion of art exchanges among the Mediterranean countries, with the support of the Algerian Culture Ministry. The event has been realised in 2004, after a ten years stop, due to the murdering by terrorists of Mr. Ahmed Asselah. Asselah was the director of ESBA and the major promoter of previous meetings (from 1985 and 1992). Along with public conferences on different disciplines, teachers will hold various artistic workshops from participating schools. Works made by students during the various meetings will be exhibited at the final day of the event.
