Love Difference Table at "Classics of the Contemporary" exhibition. Villa Pisani (Stra-Venice) 23 May - 1 November 2009
The spaces of the Museo Nazionale Villa Pisani at Stra (Venice), will host from May 23 the exhibition curated by Costantino D'Orazio "The classics of the Contermporary”, including works by Anish Kapoor, Anselm Kiefer, Jannis Kounellis, Richard Long, Mario Merz, Marisa Merz, Luigi Ontani, Mimmo Paladino, Giuseppe Penone, Michelangelo Pistoletto.
The National Museum will host in a constant dialogue between Classic and Contemporary, the installations by the ten internationally known artists, enlightening the most evocative corners of the Villa: Tiepolo’s Salone, the stables, the extraordinary central fountain and the boxwood maze, one of the few still preserved in Europe. The initiative, conceived as a succession of appearances of the ten great masters invited, will be a moment of reflection on the role of "the Classical" in the work of contemporary artists and will trace the wire that connects the contemporary avant-garde with the classic style that has shaped the forms of Villa Pisani.
In the interiors of the Villa Pisani, Love Difference Table by Michelangelo Pistoletto will mirror the fresco of the "Triumph of the Pisani" by Gianbattista Tiepolo. Around the table, in the shape of the Mediterranean, chairs from the countries facing the basin, in which the cultural idea of Classic is continually questioned. The exhibition will be open until 1 November 2009.
