And now what? Michelangelo Pistoletto and Love Difference at the International Festival of Artistic Action Estrella Levante (Murcia, Spain)
The International Festival of Artistic Action Estrella Levante SOS4.8 is a unique event which combines Contemporary Art, Music and Reflection; in particular, ‘Voces’ is a forum in where artists and intellectuals examine the concept of sustainability. The festival will take place in Murcia, Spain, on May 1-2, 2009.
The festival will schedule a contemporary art exhibition, a compilation of the responses to the above question (and now what?), put to the invited guest artists by the Curator Jota Castro. The answers came in the form of video art, multimedia installations and photographs, which can be seen in this groundbreaking exhibition. The exhibition will take place in the space Art Mustang.
The forum ‘Voces’ wants to be a manageable and useful space where some of the planet’s best intellectuals will reflect on the present world and on our future options. This year, with the slogan “And Now What?” organizers have invited philosophers, sociologists, scientists and artists to give the public their views on what awaits us in the next quarter of a century and to give some clues on how to address and rethink the challenge.
The SOS 4.8 music programme mirrors our current soundscape. Featuring a wide spectrum of the female side of popular music, the programme focuses equally on the electronic and rock crossovers, and big names representing the quintessence of indie pop.
Michelangelo Pistoletto will bring a new piece for the exhibition (the Mediterranean Carpet Love Difference, designed by Pistoletto and realized in collaboration with Gudran and El Max artisans, Egypt), and will take part in a conference in the forum ‘Voces’ together with Love Difference, presenting the Mediterranean Cultural Parliament project (read more about the project).
