“Mediterranean - Love Difference”, the site-specific work by Michelangelo Pistoletto for the City of Bologna
Tuesday, October 7 into the new headquarters of the municipal offices of Piazza Liber Paradisus, the Mayor of Bologna Sergio Cofferati and the marco Cammelli, President of Fondazone Monte Marco, inaugurated “Mediterranean - Love Difference” by Michelangelo Pistoletto.
The work, bought by Fondazione del Monte, was designed and built specifically for the new offices of the City of Bologna. The work (which measure about 5 meters to 9.50) is composed of several panels of steel mirror mounted on special frames. The shape represents the Mediterranean Sea and coloured letters for the words "Love Difference", involving all the countries facing the Mediterranean. This site-specific installation is a large mirroring wall facing human people, who may reflect, measure and place themselves into it, creating a situation of interchange in which the spectator will live at the same time in building and in the work of art.
"Love Difference - said Pistoletto - is an Artistic Movement for an InterMediterranean Politics that brings the feeling of love where where tragic conflicts between people and cultures are common". Earnings from the sale of the work of art will be used to fund the activities of Love Difference.
Starting from Saturday October 11, with the inauguration of the new headquarters of the City of Bologna, the work will be visible to the public.
