At MART Museum in Rovereto "Eurasia.
Geographic cross-overs in art", until November 16, 2008
Europe and Asia are a single continental mass, the two sub-continents
does not have a strong geological and geographical separation, there
is only one a conventional line of demarcation, that is Urals Mountains
in Russia. The exhibition at Mart in Rovereto (Italy), open until
November 16, will talk about geographic cross-overs in art.
According to the project curator Achille Bonito Oliva, who has used
the collaboration of some young international curators (Lorenzo Benedetti,
Iara Boubnova, Cecilia Casorati, Hu Fang, Christiane Rekade and Julia
Trolp), the exhibition presents a vision of art capable of crossing
every separate identity and show the possibility of an art sliding
between Europe and Asia, "Eurasia" precisely.
The title of the exhibition is borrowed from the name given by Joseph
Beuys to a series of performances executed between 1966 and 1968,
represented in the exhibition by the video of Eurasienstab, 1967,
realised on 9th February 1968 at the Wide White Space in Antwerp –
today part of the permanent collection of MoMA, New York.
