MOVIN'UP 2008: mobility for young Italian artists. Deadlines for applications: May 23 and June 3, 2008
Movin'Up is the support programme intended for young creative people aged 18-35, who were admitted or officially invited abroad by cultural institutions or festivals to participate in competitions, seminars, workshops, internships and for those who have planned artistic productions or training periods to be carried out within foreign centres and institutions. A unique reward for young Italian talents, giving them an opportunity to study or work, partially or totally covering thei expenses abroad. The artistic fields involved are: visual arts, architecture, design, music, cinema, video, theatre, dance, performance, writing.
The project was founded ten years ago by GAI - Association of Italian Young Artists, in collaboration with PARC and POGAS. Movin'up in the first nine editions has helped to support 402 of 959 submitted projects, for a total of 661 participating artists.
The new call for 2008 is divided into two different sessions: the first session - ending on Friday May 23, 2008 at 12 a.m.- will consider requests for activities, starting between July 1 and December 31, 2008.
Under the programme DE.MO. and the new initiatives to support the artistic mobility, Movin'Up action presents an additional grant for artistic residences in reknown international institutions, intended for visual artists. For the current biennium the project DE.MO. / Movin'Up offers two scholarships, covering of travel and maintainance costs in two partner institutions: Platform Garanti Contemporary Art Center in Istanbul and Kunstlerhaus Bethanien GmbH in Berlin. Deadline for applications is Tuesday June 3, 2008, 12:00 am.
