The culture of emergencies: “artexvino=acqua”
(art x wine = water) presented in Milan
At the opening of the exhibition “Emergencies”
in Milan (a series of event taking place in Milan in April and May),
Associazione Arte Continua presented the project “artexvino=acqua”
(art x wine = water), active since 2003 within the sphere of Arte
all’Arte, and sustained by Cittadellarte and Love Difference.
On Tuesday 3 April Mario Cristiani (President of Arte Continua), Michelangelo
Pistoletto (artist), and Bartolomeo Pietromarchi (Olivetti Foundation)
presented the project to the public and to the Italian Minister for
Environment. The initiative is linked to the UN campaign announced
for 2003, world-wide year of water. The aim of the project is the
realization of water installations that produce drinking water in
areas of the planet which are especially problematic (chosen sites
are located in Brazil, Palestine and Israel, Senegal and India). Funds
are raised by selling bottles of six wines from the Siena Region,
chosen by chef Antonello Colonna, whose labels were designed by six
artists, invited by the director of the Tate Modern, Vincente Todoli.
The invited artists were Lothar Baumgarten, Richard Hamilton, Roni
Horn, Cildo Meireles, Gilberto Zorio and Michelangelo Pistoletto.
