Absolute Beginners: four artists
from Albania and Kosovo at Isola Art Center in Milan, from March 15
until April 5, 2007
Isola Art Center in Milan will host Absolute Beginners,
a project aiming to retrace the first steps of a group of artists,
who are now working in an international environment. The exhibition
displays four video-art projections by Jakup Ferri, Armando Lulaj,
Anri Sala and Fani Zguro. The title of the show, curated by Fani Zguro,
refers to the condition of the artists at the moment of the realization
of their first works, attesting the indefinable and uncertain moment
of the artist’s debut. The beginning of a search, doubts, transformations
and journeys though time, surviving within the present artistic scene
and the ambiguous relationships between known and emerging artists.
The exhibition will be open from the 15th of March until the 5th of
April. On Thursday 22 March Isola Art Center will host the conference
“Albania: 10 years of contemporary art”.
