The Disappearance of Public Space:
until 14 March 2007 an exhibition on arts and the media at Belgrade
Museum of Contemporary Art. Europoly by Dejan Kaludjerovic
on show
The Disappearance of Public Space is the first of
a series of projects under the title “Inquiry into Reality”
by Goran Petrovic, author and curator. The project considers and explores
the meaning of the term public sphere and the degree of change in
its meaning under the influence of media, new technologies and new
forms of communication. Starting from the idea that public sphere
covers every representative form of interaction and communication,
and that the elements of media culture can form its significant part,
artists directly intervene within different channels of communication:
printed, electronic and digital media and urban public space. The
intention of the project is to provoke the production of hybrids that
integrate artistic praxis and media, and to offer various audiences
the possibility to experience modern art as a critical praxis. Most
of the art works within the project have been produced for this occasion
and are closely related to the social, cultural and political situation
in the Balkans.
Europoly - The European Union Identity Trading Game is a
project by Dejan Kaludjerovic, developed in collaboration with Cittadellarte-Fondazione
Pistoletto and Love Difference with the support of the European Cultural
Foundation. It is a research project starting from a game questioning
public and private identity of migrants coming to European countries,
analyzing chance and demands coming from European Union laws. Europoly
Portable Game version will be exhibited at “The Disappearance
of Public Space” exhibition at the Museum of Contemporary art
in Belgrade, from February 28 until March 14.
