Another World is Possible. At World Social
Forum 2007 in Nairobi Art for Social Change and Art in Defence of
Humanism
Under the slogan "Another World is
Possible", the seventh edition of the World Social Forum brings
the world to Africa as activists, social movements, networks, coalitions
and other progressive forces from Asia-Pacific, Latin America, the
Caribbean, North America, Europe and all corners of the African continent
converge in Nairobi, Kenya for five days of cultural resistance and
celebration. Panels, workshops, symposia, processions, film nights
and much much more, from the 20th of January until the 25th of January
2007. Art for Social Change (Holland) held an event in Nairobi on
the 22nd with disadvantaged communities from Uganda, Art in Defence
of Humanism (Denmark) organised events on 21 (communication) and 24
of January (theatre).
In the meanwhile, the World Economic Forum Annual Meeting opened in
Davos (Switzerland). From the official website: “Session panellist
Scott Friedheim, Co-Chief Administrative Officer Lehman Brothers (global
investment bank), caught the mood of this discussion on the Shifting
Power Equation by identifying business shifts that climate change
would cause”.
