Patterns Istanbul: a project and
a workshop by Bernardo Giorgi e Cinzia Cozzi in collaboration with
Love Difference: Istanbul, 4-9 December 2006
“Patterns” is a project by
Bernardo Giorgi and Cinzia Cozzi (borders project), based on the idea
of overlapping and matching the body – the boundary as to the
external world – to the territory. In “Patterns Istanbul”
portions of the territory marked in the map of the city of Istanbul
that are especially related to the inhabitants of the city by their
personal experience, will be redrawn and transferred to paper patterns
for the production of clothes. “Patterns Istanbul” will
become a platform to activate an established network of people and
places, that will constitute a creative way of relationship between
the subjects and the cultural territory they are related to. The project
is sponsored by Berliner Senate, with the collaboration of Cittadellarte
– Fondazione Pistoletto and Love Difference, the BM Contemporary
Art Center, Human Settlement NGO, Platform Garanti, and with the support
of Bilgi University, Goethe Institut, Istanbul Technical University,
Italian Institute of Culture.
Love Difference takes part in “Patterns Istanbul” by collaborating
with the authors in the project, and holding a specific workshop in
Istanbul on December 4-9: a multidisciplinary group of people will
take part to a collective work of exploration, analysis and representation
of a portion of territory of Istanbul, in order to create a cultural
map, that will support the realization of the project “Patterns
Istanbul”.
