Worlds at the mirror: a
project by Associazione Mosaico and Love Difference for the International
Migrant’s Day, on Sunday 18 December at Cittadellarte
Reflecting on oneself through the opinion,
the gestures and the practice of the Other. December 18 is the International
Migrant’s Day: at 5,30 p.m. Associazione Mosaico (Biella, Italy)
in collaboration with Love Difference presents "Worlds at the
mirror", a project by the ethnologist Fabio Pettirino and the
cultural mediator Soulè Soihili Djaé, which has been
developed through a documentary video directed by Gigi Piana. Thanks
to the methodology of participated observation, the video tells the
rhythms of the Tamil community of Trivero (near Biella), through a
day-type lived from Soulè (Comore Islands), and the discovery
of an unusual use of the city’s public spaces by a group of
Pakistani and Sinhalese friends. Moreover, the project offers a selection
of photographs by Nicoletta Lupi and an anthropological pamphlet Fabio
Pettirino as a support for the proposed images. The survey analyses
the experiences of some foreign communities in the territory of Biella,
by turning upside-down the point of observation: a creative reflection,
by the immigrants themselves, of the realities they met through their
migratory projects. The dvd containing all the materials presented
to the public will be available.
