Good practices: the plaza regained The website esterni.org reports about the development of a
project of an intervention on public spaces, realised thanks to a
public collective initiative. The intervention was carried out from
an international workshop, conducted by Milanese association Esterni
in 2008 and it was designed to find solutions for an abandoned space
in the neighbourhood of Lavapiés in Madrid. Artists, technicians
and students from around the world collaborated to develop a project
of transforming an urban void into a new public space. The focus of
the intervention was the involvement of citizens: getting involved
in the project and by continuing the disputes with the municipality
of Madrid, citizens won the right to occupy and manage a public space. http://estaesunaplaza.blogspot.com/
