Duepercinque: design contest at the Public
Design Festival. Deadline for applications: 10 February 2010
During the Salone del Mobile (Milan's furniture fair), on April
13-18th 2010, the second edition of Public Design Festival will take
place in Milan: a festival aimed in the first place for designers
and architects, but also for public administrators, companies, and
common citizens to focus on public spaces, and on how they are conceived
and designed, or, on the contrary, neglected. The Festival will host
“duepercinque”, the design competition created to make
the public opinion more aware of the public space as a context for
projects, and to offer everyone - Italians and foreigners alike -
the opportunity to express their creativity in a festival which talks
about public space and enjoy a prestigious showcase, such as Milan's
Salone del Mobile and other important events in Milan.
Participants shall design an intervention in a urban (2x5-metre) parking
space. They may submit different kinds of projects, such as installations,
communication projects, services for the city, actions, urban furniture
items, or performances. Submitted projects shall be related to public
space according to guidelines as stated in the open call, and shall
be new and novel, and especially developed for this competition.
The projects and the enclosed information sheets shall be uploaded
on the website by the midnight of February 10th 2010.
